8K over a single CAT6 cable has been promised for years and delivered by almost nobody. The NPG-EX50-8K is the first unit we measured that holds a stable 8K@60 4:4:4 signal across a full 40-meter certified run.
Signal integrity: where the 48Gbps actually comes from
Under the hood the EX50-8K uses a retimer-based FRL design rather than the redriver approach found in budget units. Our eye-diagram captures at 40m show margin to spare, and the link retrained after every hot-plug without a single drop to black.
Forty meters of certified copper, 8K60, Dolby Vision intact, and the link never blinked.
โ Bench notes, day 12
There is no KVM or USB passthrough on this model โ if you need HID at the far end, the EX50KVM-18G is the unit in the same family, but it tops out at 18Gbps.
Verdict
At $189 it is not the cheapest 8K extender on the shelf, but it is the first one we can honestly rate for full-distance 8K. If your run is under 25 meters, the compact EX50C-8K saves you $30. Beyond that, this is the unit to buy.
